Mystery, Alaska?  Neutral

*checks it out on IMDb*

OOOHhhhhh...it's a hockey movie.  Got it.  Somebody actually watched that movie?  Okay, okay...I'll shut up and go with an Olympic sport this time.  Smile

Sports Comedies
1.  BASEketball
2.  A League of Their Own
3.  Balls Out / Intramural
4.  Major League
5.  Mr. Baseball
6.  The Mighty Ducks
7.  Caddyshack
8.  Mystery, Alaska
9.  Cool Runnings

Come to think of it, bobsledding is a sport because there's a physically active aspect to it, even if it's just four people shoving a bobsled around.  What about stock car racing, formula car racing, drag racing, powerboat racing and racing vehicles around a track in general?  Sport or not?  Question

I would put one in there but I want to leave someone else to pick the next topic. Or if Golden Drakon gives me the next topic I will go with what he says since Ainsley and I have already chosen the topic.

What say you Drakon?

I ask for a ruling on that one Ainsley. He didn't actually time travel just kinda of stayed frozen for a few centuries.

Yeah, I don't think it would count as time travel if time progressed normally while the character was in suspended animation.  That was the case with the 1979 movie, anyway.  The 1950-ish TV series had more of a one-way time jump (which would count as time travel), but TV shows aren't movies.  Wink

Can you toss us another one, Drak?

(And Tiger wants to hassle me about watching a Power Rangers movie when he watched a friggin' Spongebob movie. I had to Google it to learn about Bubbles the Time Wizard! Very Happy )

Movies With Plots Involving Time Travel
1. Back to the Future
2. The Time Machine
3. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water.
4. Time Bandits
5.  Deja Vu
6.  The Lake House

If you've never watched it, The Lake House is about a woman who lives in a lake house finding out that the house's mailbox allows her to send messages back and forth with a man who lives in that same lakehouse...or, rather, lived in it.  In the past.  Yes, it's about time-traveling letters.  She puts a message in the mailbox, he opens the same mailbox five years in the past and finds the letter.  He puts his own letter in the mailbox, and five years later, she gets it out of the mailbox the next day when she goes to fetch the mail.  How the mailbox (which is obviously a time-travel device of sorts) works is never explained (though the time-traveling is probably the artifice of magic rather than science).  What matters is that he moved out of the lake house over some tragedy, and their trans-temporal letters turn to trans-temporal love letters which eventually lead to her finding out where he lives in the present day.  And because he's been retroactively in love with her for years by that point, they find each other and live happily ever after.  The End.  It was a pretty sweet romance movie, albeit one with time travel as a plot element.  Watch it.  Because if there's one thing that Sandra Bullock can do, it's romance movies.   I love you

I never watched Deja Vu (though apparently it ends up as one of those "Go back in time and stop a terrible crime from happening" stories), but Time Bandits was a big part of my childhood.  I still love the climax, where the dwarfs come back with a bunch of cowboys, knights, medieval archers and whatever other warrior sorts they could scrounge up from here and there throughout the course of history.  The Devil whoops all their asses, of course.  Then God shows up, makes the Devil go kablooey, forgives the dwarfs for stealing his cosmic map and sends the kid back home, where his parents find one of the Devil's chunks in their toaster oven, touch it (despite the kid yelling and telling them to not touch it) and go kablooie in turn.  So the ending was kind of a downer.  But the movie, on the whole, rocked out.  And then we got George Harrison's wonderful song "Dream Away" playing through the end credits.  Very Happy

I hate to bring it up again, but wasn't Idiocracy another movie about a guy waking up from suspended animation and finding that five-hundred years have passed since he went into cryosleep/hyposleep/[insert fancy synonym for suspended animation here]? It's still not the same as jumping back and forth through the time continuum, unfortunately.

I know that you two know about a very popular series of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies which are all about time travel. I'm surprised that you haven't picked the first of that series yet! Wink

Yeah, sure.  Razz

Movies With Plots Involving Time Travel
1.  Back to the Future
2.  The Time Machine
3.  The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water.
4.  Time Bandits
5.  Deja Vu
6.  The Lake House
7.  Some Doctor Who movie or another, I guess
8.  Idiocracy
9.  The Butterfly Effect

...okay, so I lied.  Very Happy

I actually didn't sit through the first Butterfly Effect movie, but I caught The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations, which was a bit messed up.  Basically, when the protagonist was just a kid, he rescued his little sister from the same house fire that killed his parents.  Years later down the road, the dude finds out that his girlfriend was murdered, and the girlfriend's sister has evidence that the one sentenced for murdering her is actually innocent.  So with his little sister's help, the dude travels back in time to find more evidence, witness more events and try to solve the crime, but every time he returns to the present, something else is messed up: Some piece of evidence has gone missing, or someone else has turned up dead.  Eventually the dude finds out that the murderer is his own little sister, who's A) a bit of a psycho, B) is more than a little incestuous, since she's been murdering all of his girlfriends because she wants him all to herself (feelings brought about because he's been her idol ever since he rescued her from the fire), and C) also capable of time travel, which was how she covered her tracks for so long.  How does he fix this whole neurotic, murderous mess?  He goes back in time to the house fire and, instead of rescuing his sister, he locks her in her bedroom and leaves her to die.  Pretty messed up, like I said.

As to why his sister didn't follow him back through time and try to stop him from locking her past self in her bedroom, it's because the mind travels back through time but the body doesn't.  She would have ended up in the body of her past little girl self, and she would have gotten locked in her room and died in the fire anyway.  Or maybe she did jump back through time (and die in the fire), and we just don't see any indication of that.  Either way, a little girl gets burned alive, and that's terrible.

But at least he gets his parents back.  Smile

("Funny ending," my ass!  Some people are retarded when it comes to titling their YouTube videos.  Razz )

So who wants to go next?  Smile

4. Time Bandits

You got me there!  I never even knew that Fred Ward acted in any such movie!  Very Happy

But you know what this list needs?  Martin Lawrence.  Razz

Movies With Plots Involving Time Travel
1. Back to the Future
2. The Time Machine
3. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water.
4. Time Bandits
5. Deja Vu
6. The Lake House
7. Some Doctor Who movie or another, I guess
8. Idiocracy
9. The Butterfly Effect
10. TimeRider: The Adventure of Lyle Swann
11. Black Knight

I never finished watching that movie.  Does he go back to the modern day at the end, or is he stuck ballin' in medieval England for the rest of his life?  Inquiring minds want to know!  Very Happy

EDIT: Nevermind, I checked Wikipedia.  Apparently he helps the deposed queen overthrow the king and his champion (the latter of whom kills the king and tries to take the throne for himself), and right as the queen knights our protagonist for his heroism, he finds himself back in the medieval theme park in the modern day.  Then he falls into the moat and time-travels again, only this time he ends up in the Colosseum back in ancient Rome right as a lion's about to attack him.  The End.

Cliffhanger much?  Razz
